The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released K Roberto Aguayo after a failed stint with the team.
The Buccaneers famously traded a third and fourth-round pick to select Aguayo in the second-round of last years draft. He was arguably the best kicker in college football history, converting on 88.5 percent of his kicks while at Florida State. That success did not translate to the NFL, converting on only 71 percent and missing 2 extra points. His troubles continued into the first game of the preseason, missing both an extra point and a field goal last night.
Tampa Bay brought in Nick Folk, this offseason, to give Aguayo some competition. He converted on his only kick last night, a 45-yard field goal. The Buccaneers will move forward with Folk as the lone kicker on the roster.
