[TRIGGER WARNING: Sexual assault on slide 6/7] On Tuesday, Ben Affleck posted a lengthly post on Facebook condemning Harvey Weinstein amidst his recent sexual assault allegations. Shortly after that, many people take to Twitter to call Affleck out on his hypocrisy, like the fact that he was silent during his brother, Casey Affleck's sexual assault scandal. Rose McGowan even shared that Ben Affleck knew about Harvey Weinstein's behavior for a long time and he never spoke up. The situation escalated when a video clip of Affleck groping Hilarie Burton on MTV in the early 2000s resurfaced. "And he wraps his arm around me," Burton said in the video, "and he comes over and tweaks my left boob." Even though Affleck later apologized for the incident, this whole situation just proved how normalized this behavior is for men in Hollywood. This is not OK. Sexual assault is never OK. Hollywood, fix your shit. ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
THANK YOU FOR THIS
@hilariebstan of course! It’s important to speak up. #IStandWithHilarie
@femmehood I totally agree, I'm so proud of Hilarie #IStandWithHilarie
@thuperthindy wow
Come on guys it was over 10 years ago and Ben was trying to support the victims
So you usually giggle like a school girl when someone "gropes" you? She obviously didn't mind then. This video doesn't prove anything.
^^ I'm sure she just didn't want to make a big scene at the time. Stop trying to make it seem like what he did was okay because she didn't react how you think she should have.
