Building muscle by @jmaxfitness ・・・ Hit that follow 🔴button for daily FITNESS tips!!! - - 💥BUILDING MUSCLE by @jmaxfitness - Last night, I posted about how you should be doing big compound lifts 80% (at least) of the time to build muscle. - This is a general rule, but everyone is different. Some people don't even need to do isolation exercises. For example, beginners can build a great body with 100% compound exercises. - I only recommend using isolation exercises on lagging body parts. So if your calves aren't growing, then isolate them. If you want your delts to grow faster than the rest of your body, then isolate them. This is how you need to think about training. Only do something if it's needed. - As you probably know, I built my quads pretty quickly due to training them 3-4x per week, but then I started doing other routines that called for leg extensions. This was stupid and not needed. My quads were already too developed for my body, so doing more quad work made no sense. So instead, I started isolating my hamstrings (which need some work). - If you're looking for a quick fix in your training, then focus on the exercises on the left and use them more often than the exercises on the right. When in doubt, just ask yourself "What would Cersei Lannister do?...and then do the opposite. - What's your favourite compound exercise(s)? All three of my bench sets. Benched with a much wider grip than I usually do and gotta say I liked it 💪🏻. I'm so used to benching with more tricep which is why it's gotten so developed lol. Finally learning to not train through an injury. I’ve done that for years and lots of you know it hasn’t worked out that well for me. The multiple surgeries can only repair so much. It’s hard to sit and rehabilitate. . ••••Find your weaknesses, & work on them until they are no longer a weakness•••• . I’ve been in a bad habit lately of not warming up well before my compound lifts which was causing a few muscle aches here and there. After a week of switching up my warmups to a more dynamic approach, I’ve found another weakness. PUSH UPS. . Here’s a video of my 3 ROUND push-up circuit for two reasons: 1️⃣ It’s a badass warmup for a bench/arm day 2️⃣ It’s a starting point to refer to when my push-ups improve! . I was only able to do 8 reps of each variation for the three sets. Hopefully in a few months I’ll be posting an update video, and I’ll be doing more reps, with the plates stacked higher! . HUGE shoutout to the beautiful @linnea_liftslife_up for all the push-up inspiration. She literally kills its at this stuff, y’all! 🖤 .
