When you speak your truth, you honor the deepest part of yourself that can’t be named with words; who you are can only be felt in your heart.
Know you are the miracle; the mysterious wonder and joy of the Universe.

Today I had an important conversation. I met up with a friend who I am thankfully able to share my complete self with. I don’t have to lie about how many good days I have versus bad, how I’m getting on with my life (or not). She handed me a Christmas card before we had even sat down, to which I responded: “Thank you, I don’t have one for you...and I’m just glad I don’t have to lie and tell you I left yours at home.” She wasn’t offended, she wasn’t hurt. She got it. And you know what’s really amazing? Being truthful about one small thing opened up a very frank conversation about where my head is at and encouraged me to take even bigger leaps. I shared with her how frightened I suddenly am, how vulnerable and alone I feel. My friend is not bereaved - going through a lot perhaps, but not bereaved. And yet the best thing was, she felt it too. Being afraid is ok, it’s what makes us human.

#aboutlastnight — What most people don’t tell you about stepping out of the proverbial “boat” is that it’s difficult and often lonely. Plus you have to start all over in a new place and learn new customs and traditions. You don’t do it because it’s easy, you do because it’s necessary and it forces you to grow and develop in your weak areas. That’s been my journey this year and I’m so thankful to have found this community of women who share the common purpose of empowering, equipping, and releasing confidence and value to women and girls in our communities, high schools, rehab facilities, shelters, detention centers and prisons. Thanks to the #HillsongNYC @shineglobal team for all that you do for women and girls. Thanks to @alli_mcquade @lizpessin and Joanna for leading us so well these last five weeks. Thanks @enidannbozic for welcoming me with open arms from the moment we met. I’m proud to be a part of this team and a graduate of this program. .
