I can't stop playing my dreamcast. It's incredible how a dreamcast can look through vga on a trinitron monitor. Pictures can't do it justice, but in person you wouldn't believe this game was from 1999!
This is Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse on the Sega Master System. The games plot has you on a quest to rescue Minnie Mouse from the old hag Arlene Foster.. Sorry, Mizrabel whom wants to rob Minnie of her youth because she is a wrinkled trout. Mickey has to travel through 7 stages each with their own theme and end of level boss, which you defeat in order to obtain one of the rainbow crystals. These are used to activate a rainbow bridge which gets you to the final boss battle. The games graphics brought, colourful as you expect with a Disney franchise though Mickey is better animated than the level enemies. The music is the typical master system sound but that doesn't detract from the individual scores for each level being very twee and actually enjoyable. Mickey has two forms of attack, the first is being able to puck up and their each levels individual "blocks" , for example an apple, box or rock. The second has mickey jumping into the air and landing butt first on to the enemies, like most games, this can also be used to bounce to higher platforms not normally reachable. The game is a solid platformer and some bosses may present a bit of a challenge. Its one of the more popular games on the system with several sequels appearing on the sega systems of the time. .
