Kirsten Gillibrand is an American Senator representing the state of New York and is the second woman to hold the seat of Senator in New York. In the Senate she is known as a populist-leaning liberal supporting abortion rights, gay rights, single-payer healthcare, government transparency, female equality, and gun control. Gillibrand’s memoir Off The Sidelines: Raise Your Voice, Change The World debuted on the New York Times Best Seller list and is very candid about revealing sexism in the Senate. Gillibrand is already one of the top Democrat contenders for the 2020 presidential election.
I painted @kirstengillibrand a few weeks back. The painting hasn't sold and the more I looked at it the more it bothered me. I felt like I liked the brushwork and it did look like her to an extent, but it was also a little harsh and cold and I didn't like the message that unintentionally might have conveyed. Senator Gillibrand is a tireless advocate for others and a great Senator. So I decided I'd soften and warm the painting up to convey the warm and lovely human being she is. I've included the original image in this post, just swipe to see it. Would be interested in hearing your thoughts. Oh, and it's for sale on my Etsy store, link in bio to store but you'll have to navigate away from the Hillary print it lands on.
Democratic New York Senator, @kirstengillibrand , pulled no punches during her recent appearance on Fox’s Good Day New York when she was asked for her opinions on medical cannabis. “I don’t see it as a gateway to opioids,” responded Gillibrand. “What I see is the opioid industry, and the drug companies that manufacture them, and some of them in particular, are just trying to sell more drugs that addict patients and addict people across this country.”
