MICHIGAN DRAFT PREVIEW:
Michigan only has 2 players that I think are capable of going in the first 2 rounds this year. It's not a particularly strong class for them, but I do think Mo Hurst could be a high pick. Mike McCray is a really solid, instinctive LB prospect and Mason Cole is one of the best Centers in the country. Pre season grades below:
Maurice Hurst, DL - 1st/2nd Round
Mason Cole, OC - 2nd Round
Mike McCray, LB - 3rd Round
Ty Isaac, RB - 6th Round
Khalid Hill, FB - 7th Round/UDFA
Top Prospect- Maurice Hurst, DL - an incredibly disruptive interior D lineman, Hurst possesses excellent quickness and burst. Plays with great leverage and hand use. Hands are quick and violent to beat blockers one on one. Can generate some good drive despite being slightly undersized. I expect to see his stock rise this year as he takes on a larger role on Michigans Defense. .
My Guy - Mason Cole, OC - Cole has great size for a Center. He could play anywhere along the Oline, but has found a home at Center. Plays with a mean streak and has a very powerful punch. Has good foot speed and movement skills making him a good second level blocker. Plays with good leverage and a strong base in pass pro. Will be a hot commodity when the Draft roles around given his versatility.
OHIO STATE DRAFT PREVIEW:
Ohio State once again has a roster loaded with NFL talent. There are so many players that I really like that I won't get to feature in this space but will have scouting reports coming on many of these prospects in the near future. Pre season grades below:
Tyquan Lewis, EDGE - 1st Round
Billy Price, OG - 1st/2nd Round
Jerome Baker, LB - 1st/2nd Round
Dremont Jones, DL - 2nd Round
Sam Hubbard, EDGE- 2nd Round
Jalyn Holmes, DL - 2nd/3rd Round
Mike Weber, RB - 3rd Round
Damon Webb, S - 3rd Round
Denzel Ward, CB - 3rd Round
Chris Worley, LB - 3rd Round
Jamarco Jones, OT - 3rd/4th Round
Paris Campbell, WR - 3rd/4th Round
Marcus Baugh, TE - 4th Round
Michael Hill, DL - 6th Round
JT Barrett, QB - 7th Round
Dante Booker, LB - Grade Incomplete
Top Prospect- Tyquan Lewis, EDGE - Lewis is one of my favourite EDGE players in next years class. He's quick off the line, shows good ability to dip and rip whilst also showing good hip power and strength at the point of attack against the run. Has excellent snap reaction and can rush upfield with speed. Shows good ability to convert speed to power and can be a real handful for blockers. Closes quickly and finishes plays. Has a high motor and will chase the ball. Shows good change of direction which means he could play in a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme at the next level.
My Guy - Jerome Baker, LB - if you haven't already check out my full report on Baker. He's my top LB in next years class and is the perfect modern day LB. He is super athletic and can cover anyone from slot receivers to RBs downfield. Shows good instincts and toughness against the run, diagnosing well and filling his gap with authority. Effective blitzer who's quickness means he can slip through the line untouched to make plays in the backfield. His ceiling is sky high and I think he has great potential as a 4-3 Will Backer at the next level.
