Fireflies in the night.
A shot from early July, I was sitting alone on the beach until night fell and the Milky Way began to appear, shortly after I heard a loud rumble and was blinded by a spotlight driving straight at me, with hands raised I pleaded my case.. The officers had an unsettling story about the last time they were dispatched to this beach to look for people swept out in the ripe-tide. They were very surprised to find me doing nothing more than 'taking pictures of the dark'.. but even more enthralled that they could actually see bright stars, planets, and the details of the milky way with their own eyes. They took more than a while to sit on a log next to me and ask about different colored planets and celestial beings and conversation eventually faded to just staring up at the sky. 'Man, I could do this all night' broke the silence and they left me with permission to stay as long as I wanted. This experience was startling, but a strong reminder that serious matters are happening all the time, but it is equally important to take time to absorb the peace and tranquility that this world has to offer.
