From a Guardian article today. Just look at her— what a radiant human. Killed for being an outspoken woman, like #DianaSacayan and #QandeelBaloch and so many others. “This is what can and does befall such extraordinary women”—and this needs to change. #MarielleFrancoPresente

Baaghi, an award winning top-rated biographical drama based TV show on the famous, controversial Pakistani figure #QandeelBaloch who was murdered by her brother in the name of honour in July 2016.
People in Pakistan scorn and ridicule female models or actors.
However, women continue to break barriers and fight the odds to pursue their passions of modeling. One such inspirational woman is @eman_suleman who is a successful model in Pakistan.
Eman was extremely inspirational when she said that people who sl** shame her and call her a wh**e do not bother her at all. She said, “And for those of you who refer to me as a wh**e to incite me, know that I am unperturbed by it.” Eman is a pure #feminist who speaks for the independence and empowerment of women. She also spoke in support of bold model and actress #qandeelbaloch Qandeel’s brother brutally killed her in the name of honor.
She is solid as rock who does not care about what people say to her.
They are the true fighters who want to change Pakistan forever!
You go girl!
@thepakistanjournal Thanks @eman_suleman for her bold statements

Watched #Baaghi‘s last episode’s teaser . Made my breath catch in my throat, thought of Qandeel’s last moments. The terrible, awful end she faced. Laanat on the brothers who kill their sisters. Honor itna hai toh khud mar jao. #baaghi#qandeelbaloch#urdo#pakistani#darma

Qandeel Baloch. We all heard about her, we all red at least one horrible comment about her. I finally managed to watch the Drama BAAGHI which was inspired by her story, and I am actually speechless.
Basically, it is the story of a girl (Fauzia BATOOL) who lives in a small village with her family and dreams of becoming a star. But Fauzia will face so many hard times in her life (forced marriage, unfaithful and abusive husband, abusive brother…) and decides to leave the village for the city where she will start to work for a modeling company as Qanwal Baloch. Obviously, she won’t tell her family about her real job until her ex-husband recognizes her on TV. And unfortunately we all know how it will end up.
It´s been a long time I haven’t watch a Pakistani drama, and to be honest: I AM SPEECHLESS. SABA QAMAR ne kamal acting kiya. Nobody could have play this role better than her. She owned it. FINALLY after a long time, I see a woman actually acting. I was tired of watching commercial movies, where women are just there to be beautiful aur bass. @sabaqamarzaman proved that a woman can also carry a whole drama alone, and ACT like a queen.
Even though the story was not exactly the same as QB’s (RIP), the message behind it is still very strong. I don’t want to talk about her videos and the things she used to do, that is not the point here. This girl has been murdered by her brother because of her videos, her selfies, her lifestyle… in the name of “Honor”. Yes… “Honor killing”… Sounds so contradictory.
Qandeel Baloch was young, she went through a lot in her life, and God knows how she was feeling during that time. Today, Qandeel is gone, and we cannot do anything about that. However, her story definitely marked the society, and I really hope that it will change people’s mentality. May her soul rest in peace.
Here is a quote from the drama which literally broke my heart:
« Main jaisi bhi thi, aap ki dunya se chali gayi. Ab toh burayi khatam ho gayi na? Logon ke ikhlaaq bhi bach gaye. Aur muashra, uss ka kya hua? Muashra theek ho gaya? »
