On this day in 1966, Puerto Rican Roberto Clemente won the National League Most Valuable Player Award in Major League Baseball. Six years later he died in a plane crash en route to Nicaragua with a cargo load of aid for hurricane victims. He worked hard throughout his baseball career to represent himself as a black man and a Puerto Rican American with pride and dignity. He gave to the poor in Puerto Rico all throughout his career. "Everything Roberto did was from the heart. Baseball...helping people...everything." Let's not forget Puerto Rico and the sacrifices of people like Clemente. #mlb#puertorico#baseballhalloffame
Mel Ott's autograph is by far the toughest of all the 500 HR club members, including Babe Ruth and Jimmie Foxx!
Dating from the 1930s, this fabulous black and white original photograph is beautifully signed in vintage black fountain pen by the N.Y. Giant Hall of Famer and 6-time HR Champ. The condition is outrageous! It bears a perfect signature and is free from any defects, a finer example could not possibly exist. In fact, there are all but a handful of actual Ott-signed photos known. This is for the high end collector focused on condition and rarity. #brigandiquality
