YOU HEARD IT FROM THE OG!!! #Repost from @blackthought - Thank you, to @colorofchange @theroot @campaignforbma for having me today at #mlknow2018. It was truly an honor to speak the words of Toni Morrison while celebrating the radical side of Dr. King. An excerpt.
“More important, accurate scholarship and free, dedicated artists would reveal a singularly important thing: that racism was and is not only a mark, a public mark, of ignorance; it was and is a monumental fraud.
Racism was never, ever the issue. Profit and money always was.
Where racism exists as an idea, it was always a confidence game that sucked all the strength of the victim.
Its hoped-for consequence was to define Black people as reactions to White presence. Nobody really thought that Black people were inferior. Not Benjamin Franklin, not Mr. Byrd, and not Theodore Roosevelt. They only hoped that they would behave that way. They only hoped that Black people would hear coon songs, disparaging things, and would weep or kill or resign, or become one. They never thought Black people were lazy—ever. Not only because they did all the work. But they certainly hoped that they would never try to fulfill their ambitions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And they never, ever thought we were inhuman. You don’t give your children over to the care of people whom you believe to be inhuman, for your children are all the immortality you can expect...
Racists were never afraid of sexual power or switchblades. They were only and simply and now interested in acquisition of wealth and the status quo of the poor.”

To all of my supporters who don’t know much about Madison, WI & it’s surrounding cities, all 2018 I’ll be telling you all about it. I can’t wait til I get permission to release my open letter to Madison, also known as “Sunken Place, WI”. 1st screen shot is what someone posted about #mlk yesterday on #mlkday
2nd & 3rd screenshots are residents reacting to a @wkow27 news story about an armed robber. If you go to their Facebook pages, you can see how much they love the KKKlown with the nuclear codes (#trump )
3rd screenshot is an email a local pharmacist sent to the entire city council after they asked to open an investigation into the police department (& no, he hasn’t been arrested, & I’m sure he won’t be). This is what it’s like in #madisonwi so if you’re black, don’t come to Madison unless you absolutely have to. Don’t bring your children to Madison. Take it from me. Terrible place for black children. Black kids are enduring all type of mental abuse in Madison, WI. & to be clear, black kids are mentally abused & discriminated against by just as many black people as they are white people in Sunken Place, WI. Madison, WI 2018 is Selma, AL 1960. Stay away from this place. & if you’re reading this & you’re from Madison & don’t agree, I don’t need you to agree. I’m speaking my own truth

I feel like women have so much strength, power, and wisdom and I say this not to take away from our men. My agenda is to get women comfortable with healing themselves in order to become the women they were destined to be. In the past I orchestrated an event that featured the black woman as the glue of the community and our homes. Take a moment to encourage yourself, encourage a friend, encourage a young mother anyone you feel would benefit from some kind words letting her know her work is not in vain and it’s definitely not too late to start on whatever it is she wants to do. Good morning y’all!
