Worlds collide, marking the beginning of an epic battle forged between the forces of darkness and light. The fate of all rests on the Hunter’s shoulders to quell the rising tide of evil threatening to overtake everything and plunge the connected realms into eternal darkness.
Kaelyn never felt extraordinary, growing up in the heart of Boston for most of her young life. Her humdrum routine remained unchanged for longer than she cared to remember; until the day a beautiful stranger drifted into her bookshop and changed her life forever.
Tyrian knew the moment he saw her that she was the one. His one. The singular being, within all of time and space, who was made for him alone. His world was not one of niceties and pretty things; bringing her into it would be dangerous. But he would protect her. He had to. After all, it was foretold.

Promise of Magic (House of Xannon Book 3) by Melinda VanLone

Book three of the Xannon Series returns to Tarian and the changes being wrought in her life by the events in Stronger Than Magic. It's highly recommended to read this series in order, as each new story picks up where the previous one ends.
Some promises are deadly to keep.
It's been several months since an attack on Tarian Xannon started a chain of events that resulted in her mother's murder and her current pregnancy. Her body is an unwieldy mass gestating what feels like an alien. And the intense magical power already emanating from her unborn daughter makes Tarian more uneasy than she'd ever admit.
When Tarian takes a night swim to soothe her taut nerves, the leader of the Water Ancients herself appears. The old dolphin reminds Tarian of her promise to free the Caraigg, Earth Ancients imprisoned in a deep cave for thousands of years.
To assist the task, the Water Ancient floods Tarian with power, but the exchange leaves Tarian overloaded. If she doesn't release energy and fast, both she and the baby could die. Driven by the need to protect her child and the desire to help her friends, Tarian sets out on a mission to keep her promise of magic.
To succeed, she must break one of the four pillars of elemental power that keep the plane of existence separated. But while breaking the Stulos will free the Ancients, it might also break the world.

The Best Kind of People by Zoe Whittall
How would you react if someone you loved was accused of sexual misconduct? .
This is just what happens to the family of George Woodbury, a beloved teacher in an upper-class New England town. Many years before, George won over the town when he braved taking down a gunman at the school where he still works.
Several students have come forward accusing George of sexual misconduct while on a school ski trip. The lives of George, his ER nurse wife, their intelligent 17 year old daughter and distant adult son are completely flipped upside down as they deal with the effects of this situation. One of the accusers just happens to be the sister of his daughters best friend. Talk about uncomfortable!
This is a super uncomfortable read. It seems I am enjoying books involving uncomfortable situations lately. .
The Best Kind of People was a quick starter and held attention throughout. The characters were well developed, interesting and very relatable. With all the recent reports in the news about sexual misconduct, I can only imagine what the families involved are going through. .
While I enjoyed this book, I would like to have gotten more details about what happened on the ski trip. And I don’t feel that the wife and daughter of such a beloved man would’ve been so quick to turn on him. Wouldn’t they be more likely to stand behind him until some real evidence was brought forth that what he is accused of really happened? The ending also left me wanting more and not in a sequel kind of way. I wished the author had spent more time here.
Overall, I gave it 3/5
