Exactly one year ago today I had the honor of teaching an amazing group at Mayacamus Ranch in Calistoga. This was truly a special place. We are so sad to know that the fires in northern CA have destroyed the ranch but thankful that from what we know everyone who lived there to take care of the grounds - and visitors like us - is safe. However, the people who took care of our rooms, fed us delicious food, and were so kind throughout our stay are now without jobs and some lost their homes. One of the retreat leaders has started a GoFundMe for the staff - I have put the link in my bio. @ebbandflowyogastudio who I also am so grateful to have met and taught with last year in Vacaville is accepting donations and supplies if you are in the area.
Over the past weeks we have seen how impermanent things are and how quickly things can change. I do not believe in coincidence. For all of those who were with me on the retreat and who I met during my two weeks in California and for my in laws who always show me so much kindness and who let me stay with them on my trip last October - thank you. I am grateful to have connected with you whether it was for a few minutes or many years.

#smokey#fires#sunrise#devastation#californiafires#share#repost#napa#calistoga#santarosa Praying for the #NorthBay#California Area!
This came from a someone who was a victim of the 1991 fire:
This is now the worst fire in the history of Northern California. Formerly the #1 is the Oakland Hills fire in 1991. I, along with my 3 other UC Berkeley roomates, were victims of that 1991 fire when our apartment in the North side near the Caldecott Tunnel burned downed.
Reading this made me remember what I did back then to help fire victims such as myself. If you know anyone affected by the fire please advise them to:
(1) Contact their insurance companies. Most will cover hotel stays, apart from the usual coverage.
(2) Call their credit card companies and have the last 3-6 months of their purchases reimbursed back (get a police report that testifies you are a fire victim).
(3) If you are renting and are a minor, your parents' home insurance may cover your belongings (this is how I got my stuff reimbursed through my parent's home insurance even if they lived 300 miles away at that time).
(4) Call your chain retail stores and see what they can offer to fire victims (I remember GAP gave away free clothes to fire victims up to $500 per person...yes my roommates and I were like walking GAP ads bed literally that was all the clothes we had).
(5) Get as many resources and information as you can and keep passing the info around. You will see the kindness of strangers and the familial treatment of friends.
My prayers to anyone you know affected by this devastation."
Please copy & paste.
This has been my reality the past several days, along with friends & family of this area. The constant state of checking fire maps, local police and fire updates, national news/ local news stations, awaiting an evacuation, while watching the fires as they rage through our county line. Given the wind direction and air-quality yesterday, I honestly thought I’d wake up to the fires being much closer, ready at a moments notice to leave. This is a place I call home, it’s been a wave of emotions to say the least. I understand this is nothing compared to those two have already been effected by the fires, I can only speak for myself! I wanted to shoutout the many tireless men and women helping with this devastation; @calfire @fairfield_fd @fairfieldpolice @napa_city_fire @bendfirefighters @us_hotshots @smokejumpers_on_ig and MANY others!! Thank you for ALL that you do! #BayAreaUnite#AtlasFire#Napa#Sonoma#Calistoga#SantaRosa#GreenValley#SuisunValley#Fairfield
We are devastated to hear about the wildfires, destruction, and those who have been displaced by current events in the Calistoga / Napa region.
We reflect fondly and with great admiration on our time there back on our honeymoon. Everyone and everything is in our hearts and minds.

California is burning. Over 100,000 acres have been burned with 22 active fires. 29 people have died. 3,000 homes were destroyed in Santa Rosa alone. The entire town of Calistoga was evacuated. I work within 5 miles of the two major Napa fires and can see part of it from my parking lot.
The air quality has been listed as dangerous in immediate areas and unhealthy throughout the bay area.
If you can donate anything or help in any way, please do. Please help.

Pictures from a beautiful place.
A visit to Calistoga, Ca.
November 10th 2015
Now California is on fire.
Yesterday Calistoga was given a mandatory evacuation order. The entire town of 5000 people told to leave. Erratic fires have already burned 3500 structures and killed 29.
Thankful for all the men and women fighting the fire.
May they tame the flames and get these fire put out soon!
We are safe and far from this fire. But I can feel the grief rippling through the state. I can't even imagine losing my home all my belongings and the beautiful land around my home. Sending love to all!! #tbt#thankyoucalfire#winecountry#nothingisordinary#calistoga#sonoma#napa#castello#petrifiedforest#prayforcalifornia#climatechangeisreal
