Have you ever heard of Nourish Bowls?? I've seen them at the store and a few times and always thought about if they would taste good or if I would even like it given that I'm pick with veggies and this is loaded with them. I gave it shot with the southwest chipotle. I loved it. The salsa was amazing, and it was super filling. I couldn't even finish the bowl. I’ve always said that I’d rather eat ONLY carbs than no carbs at all! 🥞 My inbox has been blowing up with questions about the “refeed thing” I shared in my story yesterday — and NOPE!! It’s not a cheat day!! #sorrynotsorry . But who’s ready for some science?! 🤓 . 🥨 Refeed days are a strategy in which you increase your carbohydrate intake for a day or so to replenish your energy stores and improve performance and results. I repeat >> It is a TACTIC during which we we target high-glycemic carbohydrates to replenish our glycogen stores. . 🤔 So, what the heck is glycogen? When you consume carbs, they’re broken down into glucose (aka: blood sugar). Your body uses this blood sugar as a primary fuel source. GLYCOGEN, on the other hand, are carbohydrates that are stored in your liver and muscles — this is your body’s back-up fuel source! . 💪🏻 When you participate in hard exercise, like strength training and endurance training, we deplete our glycogen stores and our bodies enter a state of stress. This “stress state” can result in both physical and mental fatigue, which is counter-productive to reaching our goals! . 🥗 We can address this situation physically with proper rest and recovery, but we can also do it nutritionally, as well. And here’s where the REFEED DAY comes in! Like I mentioned before, it’s NOT a free-for-all or a cheat day!! We might be eating higher-glycemic carbohydrates, but the rest of the food on our plates is still balanced and nutrient-dense. .
