I painted ‘Woman’s Best Friend’ in August of 2016. My subjects were my wife and our one dog Declan. After snapping it I realized how similar it was to the late great Alex Colville’s 1963 painting ‘Woman and Terrier’. I have long admired Colville and one of my most favourite painters. #steenart #steen #woman #dog #bullterrier #contemporaryartist #canadianart #alexcolville #arthero #contemporaryart #arttoronto #toronto

☆ Tooth-Eyed Pin ☆ My one and only green chomp faced child. His eyes were made from a mould I took of my nephew's lost baby tooth, because I'm a creep like that. This is one of the first wearable pieces I created, and I love him dearly. He is a pretty durable little beast, sculpted from polymer clay, painted with acrylics, and hard coated with resin. 3cm diameter on a metal pin and hook style badge base. $25 with free shipping until Nov 30th. Visit my etsy store in bio or send me a DM to purchase ♡ . . . . . #tbcartist #tbcmag #epheria #jemillalea #visualcreators #emergingart #nocureuncover #brisbaneart #brisbaneartist #bneart #australianartist #makersgonnamake #highsociety #etsy #etsyseller #punk #pins #badge #brooch #wearableart #sculpture #popart #popsurrealism #lowbrowart #streetstyle #giftsforweirdos #australianmade #shophandmade #contemporaryart #creepy

Draped in a beautiful saree, bedecked with gold ornaments, seated on a lotus, pot in hand, flanked by white elephants, the image of Maa Lakshmi adorns most Hindu homes and business establishments. Maa Lakshmi, also called Laxmi, is the goddess of wealth, fortune, power, luxury, beauty, fertility, and auspiciousness. She holds the promise of material fulfillment and contentment. She is described as restless, whimsical yet maternal, with her arms raised to bless and to grant her blessings. Shri is the sacred name of Lakshmi. Shri is written atop most documents and spoken before addressing a god, teacher holy man or any revered individual. The word evokes grace, affluence abundance, auspiciousness and authority. When the word is spoken or written an aura of holiness is established. Whatever follows is imbued with divine blessing. Just as the word "Om" is associated with the mystical side of life, Shri is associated with the material side of existence. Lakshmi represents the beautiful and bountiful aspect of nature. As Bhoodevi, the earth-goddess, she nurtures life; as Shreedevi, the goddess of fortune, she bestows power, pleasure and prosperity on those who deserve her grace. To realize her, one must respect the laws of life and appreciate the wonders of existence. ✨🕉️🐚🌀🌲🌷❤️💰🎨🙏🏻✨ Jai Maa Lakshmi ✨💰🕉️🙏🏻 #colourful #art courtesy @sda_originals
