Approaching the Pyongyang Gift Exhibition (National Gifts Exhibition House) located at the foot of Mt. Rongyak. This building contains 20 halls of elaborate gifts presented to Kim Il-Sung, Kim Jong-Il, Kim Jong-Un and Kim Jong-Suk by Korean people living in the North, South and abroad. It's not to be confused with the International Friendship Exhibition in Mt. Myohyang, which holds gifts given to the leaders by foreigners. A visit here is a formal affair with a military checkpoint to enter the complex, and empty pockets and a pat down required to enter the building. Gifts include a chair made entirely out of deer antlers, a bed made of non-conductive emerald tiles, a marble tiger stepping on North America, a cushion made from seagull fur and filled with seagull feathers, cars and even wild ginseng. #dprk#northkorea#dprkorea#korea#pyongyang#pyongyanggiftexhibition#exhibition#gifts#extravagance#uritours#earthnutshell

Day 13: Propaganda.
Every morning in Pyongyang you are woken up from loudspeakers playing a mixture of speeches and music. Well, if you happen to be close to where one of these cars are, anyway. The Koreans are very open about this being propaganda. It starts around 7 in the morning, and goes on for quite a while. While this specific car is the nicest I've seen, you will see plain white loudspeaker cars often. DPRK, 2016.
