Did you know that most basil is a true perennial not an annual? It's true if you're in a milder climate Basil will grow as a perennial like mine do. What I do is in the first year I pot them and bring them in during the winter. As soon as the last frost is over I plant them right back in my beds outside. They will become woody like a bush and once the main stems are pencil thick you can leave them in the ground over winter in milder zones. I still bring mine in just in case but I always make sure to plant in a bed as soon as possible so they can grow bigger and start their cycle over. These here are already woody and thick and I've propagated from them many times. I'm hoping to get a few more years out of them. #basil#milkandhoneyacreage#northeasttexas#texas#easttexas#gardening#homesteading#homestead#farmlife#ranchlife#chickens#chickenlove#farm#ranch#country#diy
