At least initially. # Spending some time weighing or measuring your food then entering it into an app or calculator is a great exercise in awareness. # Good news is, whether or not you refuse to track your calories at all, or you have for some time and are ready to take the training wheels off, you can still make or maintain your progress without all that weighing and measuring. Here’s how. # 1️⃣Protein is the most satiating of all the macros, and you really can’t eat too many veggies, as they provide very few calories while helping to fill you up. Including a serving of protein and filling 1/2 your plate with veggies makes it difficult to overeat. 2️⃣Portion distortion is a real thing, so it’s important to figure out what the right portion size is for you. A good starting place is consuming a palm size serving of protein, a fist sized of starch, a thumb size of fat, and few handfuls of veggies with each meal. Stick to this for 3-4 meals a day while limiting snacking and you really can’t go wrong. 3️⃣Hunger is not an emergency, and you should experience some while dieting, as it’s a good sign you are in fat burning mode. Try to feel hunger for about 30-60 minutes before you start eating your meal. 4️⃣If you inhale your food, chances are you might be overeating without really knowing it. Slowing down during a meal and being mindful of how full you’re getting will prevent you from eating too much. And stopping before you are completely full will effortlessly keep you calorie intake in check. 5️⃣ Having a few go to meals that you enjoy and have a general idea of the calorie amount not only reduces decision fatigue, but allows you to stay take a little bit of the guesswork out of how many calories you are taking in. 6️⃣One of the fastest ways to give up on a fat loss diet is to deprive yourself of the foods you enjoy. Finding things that take the edge off but you can still moderate will keep you satisfied without the risk of overeating.
