This time last week our director, Matt, injured his back in a lifting type injury. How did he rehab it? Read on...
Step . Relative rest. This doesn’t mean nothing, it means moving in a safe, painfree way. For Matt this meant walking and some lower back stretches.
Step 2. Seek treatment. To assist with symptom management (pain) Matt saw a physio. This treatment consisted of gentle joint mobilization, soft tissue release, and some tape to ensure the back felt stable.
Step 3. Begin loading the tissue. Respect tissue healing times, but gradually reintroduce those preciously aggravating movements (featured in this video). Step 4. Maintain loading for 4-6 weeks injury. This is the most forgotten phase in the rehab process. By this stage most people are pain free so stop doing their exercises. And it’s also the most likely for RELAPSE! So stick at it, and ensure that tissue is strong to prevent recurrence of injuries! #SafeLifting#DeadliftsArentDead#TrustYourInstinct#AndYourPhysio#Squats#RackPull#Deadlift
