@lottalosten
Annabelle Creation (2017) Warning this review contains full spoilers on the film Annabelle Creation, with that being said you've been warned.
Sister Charlotte: What is that?
Linda: Who cares? RUN!
Former toy maker Sam Mullins and his wife, Esther, are happy to welcome a nun and six orphaned girls into their California farmhouse. Years earlier, the couple's 7-year-old daughter Annabelle died in a tragic car accident. Terror soon strikes when one child sneaks into a forbidden room and finds a seemingly innocent doll that appears to have a life of its own.
Annabelle was easily one of the worst films of the year it was released I gave it a 2/10, and so did most people, it has great ideas but wasn't well executed and killed with awful writing and acting especially by the main character Annabelle Wallis who's one of my least favorite actresses she can't capture emotion well at all. So that was a sour note for Annabelle which came out in 2014, but it's 2017 and there's a new director in this town and he makes everything I hate about the first one and turns around and does a complete 360! The film is set in the 50's and it's done very well, with the clothing, a character being affected with Polio and the music choices.
David F. Sandberg KNOWS how to direct a horror film, he does yet another great job at creating a horror film, his style of direction is growing on me, the way he directs the film adds so much suspense to this film and that's what he does very well, I think he's one of the best horror directors in recent years, he doesn't rely on jump scares to make the audience jump, he does it more cleverly hidden into the movie with little adjustments in the pacing of the music and it's done so well it's not overly done at all either, and that's what I loved about Lights Out, but I like this one a lot more!
David F. Sandberg and Lotta Losten work yet again on a film, which Lotta Losten started in all of David F. Sandberg's short films and Lights Out and she's also in this movie, if you blink you'll miss it for sure but I'm so glad he adds her in all his films!
EQ REVIEWS - Annabelle: Creation (2017)
R / 109 minutes
Twelve years after the tragic death of their daughter, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a closed orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker's possessed creation, Annabelle.
What 'Annabelle: Creation' proves is that just like with last year's, 'Ouija: Origin of Evil', you can have a prequel/sequel to a poorly received/made horror film and give new life to it with a better director, script and cast and end up with tremendous results. I will say that while this isn't in any way a horror film that redefines the wheel in terms of creativity or originality, what 'Lights Out' director David F. Sandberg was able to do was take a pre-existing character/lore and whip up a fun and entertaining horror film that built up a really good and interesting backstory to the character of Annabelle. The film also benefited from it's tight pacing, solid acting from nearly everyone, especially the two young leads Talitha Bateman and Lulu Wilson (who also happened to be in the aforementioned and positively reviewed 'Ouija' prequel) and with the exception of some routinely placed jump scares, featured some genuinely frightening sequences that were accompanied by a very good score and a perfectly atmospheric and sinister tone. 'Annabelle: Creation' isn't a genre defining film by any means but it sets out to make a fun and entertaining haunted house horror film and it succeeds on nearly every level. Sandberg is now two for two in my book, giving us two horror films that I felt were on par with each other quality-wise, with his entry in 'The Conjuring' universe being a very solid addition and only getting me even more excited for his next film. This easily trumps the first 'Annabelle' film and is so far, one of the better horror films to come out in 2017.

Bom Filme.
