This week on INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’s DAY!! We have gorgeous Cee of @heyisthatme an amazing writer, hilarious, kind & a brilliant mum...
•So Cee tell all?
I’m most prolific on Instagram but I’m also on Fbk & Twitter. I post about things I’m passionate about. The lack of positive representation of Black girls & women in general by mainstream media. I’m also not averse to posting the odd pic of me looking cute either!
I’m a freelance, occupational psychologist. People think I’m always analysing them. I’m not.
Full time novelist & blogger + Channel 4 Continuity.
•Surprises you most about your girls?
They have the wickedest sense of humour. Before I had kids, I thought kids couldn’t be funny all on their own. My girls will say the most ridiculous things, knowing they are ridiculous, just for the lols. We’re all a bit weird & I love it! Normal is overrated!
•3 everyday things?
Food, esp carrot cake & Haribo (I’ve given up junk for Lent )Laughter. My family. It’s cheesy af, but I love them!
•Fav Igbo or Yoruba word & meaning?
”kedụ?” mainly because it’s the first word that any non-Igbo will learn. It means “how are you?” The response is “ọ dị mma” (I am fine)
So many! I love @_malika_yasmin_ Her images are always gorgeous, she is plant-based (goals) & she knows how to rock a mean headwrap. I also love that she shows an alternative representation of a Muslim family.
•Dream day/night out?
On a beach, somewhere hot, on a lounger, under a parasol, drinking cocktails & reading all the books that are currently sitting unread on my bookshelf!
•Best/worst about IG?
Best is meeting like-minded people & making actual friends. Worst thing? Follow/unfollow, fakery, cliques, bullying.
I really need to devote some care and attention to the blog as I have neglected it. As much as I love it, life and paid work gets in the way. BUT, I do have a number of interviews with some phenomenal women just waiting for me to hit ‘publish’.
