Sitting in the desert, watching a monsoon storm, studying its movements, watching the lightning, listening to the thunder, smelling the rain, experiencing mother nature at work during what amounts to only a short period of the year, and then capturing that moment, is why I get out and shoot our summer monsoons here in Arizona.
This bolt is illuminating the rain curtain behind it, all photogenic like, and it always feels like a gift to be able to get a nice shot.
Would you be interested in doing a night time lightning/storm photography workshop this monsoon season?
Had a great early season photo adventure last weekend at Anza-Borrego. Since Milky Way season doesn’t get underway for a few more months, it’s a great time to turn the camera to the north and get some star trails images. More to come in this series
