Overview: After losing to the Clippers, Raps look to straighten things up against a Phoenix team that’s dropped 4 in a row and playing back-to-back.
My Take: I said it last game, and I’ll say it again - Raps need to get on the glass. They sit 24th in rebounding, and their opponent is 4th in offensive boards and 6th overall. We got obliterated on the glass against LA. Other than JV’s 15 rebounds, the next highest Raptor was Ibaka with 6 - unacceptable. Don’t let the meager 9 wins fool you; this is a young, hungry Suns team. Sharpshooter Devin Booker is out, so the Raps have to take advantage of the SG mismatch. DeRozan has done a really nice job of playmaking this season, but I think he can let loose tonight. Valanciunas had a big night against LA; we’ll see if he can continue it tonight. As amazing as he is, I don’t want Jack’s commentary to be the best thing about this game. Go Raps! : TSN 9pm (EST)
NFL News: According to reports, Colts RB Frank Gore says he will return for the 2018 season if a “great opportunity” presents itself.
Here’s what the veteran running back had to say when asked about his future beyond this season: “I want to finish strong to give myself an opportunity for a team to want me,” Gore said, via the Indianapolis Star. “If there’s a great situation, I’m gonna play.” _______________________________________________________
Gore, 34, has the chance to surpass 1,000 yards rushing for the 10th time in his career and it’s something that he has his eyes set on: “If I do that, that would be real big,” Gore said. “I’ve been told since I was 28 what I can’t do or (that I) will fall off this year. I’m out there and I’m still going and still having fun and showing people on film that I can play this game.” Gore is finishing the final year of his 3-year/$12M contract and will become an unrestricted free-agent in March.
Gore has appeared in 13 starts, and has compiled 762 rush yards on 210 carries (3.6 YPC) to go along with 21 receptions for 179 yards and three total touchdowns.
