6/18/2017: the first hike of summer was an 8 mile out-and-back Sunday day trip into the Bench Lakes in the Sawtooth Wilderness.
We left Boise early, grabbed breakfast in Stanley, then hit the trail. It was idyllic 60 degree weather for a hike into the mountains, and the last remnants of snow surrounded the lakes just before melting for the summer. We stopped for a soak at a hot spring on the way home, and reached Boise in time to get dinner and prepare for the work week.
I'm going to start offering information, including time stamps, about some of our trips in case anybody is interested in how we make time to get outdoors. Let me know what you think!
Wearing spikes on our shoes allowed us to explore a labyrinth of ice cliffs, slopes and watery cravasses of the most intense blue colour. Mendenhall glacier in Alaska is an adventurers playground. @jasonspaffordphotography #glacier#adventurephotography#walkingonice
