I went to the cove this evening to check things out, take out any trash that might have been tossed out and snap a few photos.. I wanted to share an update on how things were as of 6p.m: - Foothills Parkway is open - Cades Cove Loop and Sparks Lane are open. - Forge Creek Road and Hyatt Lane we’re closed. - Abrams Falls trailhead restrooms were open and clean. - Picnic area bathrooms are closed.. However, there is a set of portable toilets.. - All areas were very clean and good.
Talked to a park staff member on patrol, he said that they have been told that they will not be able to pay the contractors for the portable restrooms - so they’re having to have them removed.. However, if a local company will donate the time - they can keep them. He seemed to be very concerned about how the condition of the park will be over the next week. So, please.. Pack out all trash from the park, not just the trail. And step up and pick up anything left behind by others. **** Anyone know the owner of TriCounty Portables in Townsend? They’re the ones that have provided the portables that will now be removed.. It would be super awesome if they would leave them in place as a donation to the park and visitors! The staff member I talked to tonight said they would be allowed to leave them if a company would donate the time.. https://tcenvironmentalinc.com)

“It was a party like you wouldn't believe. Go to a different show every night, then pick up a bunch of women afterwards, go party the next night. Go to the lounges, see Fats Domino, Della Reese, Jackie Wilson, the Four Aces, the Dominoes – all the old acts. We'd stay there and never sleep, we were all taking pills just so we could keep up with each other." –Joe Esposito

I absolutely love this! I’m not able to get free today or I would absolutely head that way to help! I wanted to share though, so that if any of you are up that way or looking for a way to give back today you can.
A huge thank you to Steve for stepping up this morning!
