A woman named Deb called me on Monday. She is a complete stranger and lives across the country from me. I can’t stop thinking about our phone conversation and here is why...
Dad is a breast cancer survivor... and quite possibly one of the nicest people I’ve ever spoken to. She is on several medications that can ultimately prolong her life and keep her in remission, but the unfortunate part is that they are not very conducive to weight loss due to their side effects. Deb’s ‘cancer counselor’, as she put it, recommended that she try at home workouts using Beachbody on-demand videos and told her about an amazing program called the 21 Day Fix.
We had a really nice chat and Deb is very excited to take control over her health through exercise and better nutrition. Over the last couple of days I have found myself thinking about Deb and when it comes to my own life, she helps me put things in perspective.
If Deb can do it, I can do it. This was a good reminder to be grateful for health and the ability to be able to exercise and appreciate food for what it is: fuel for our bodies. When I’m thinking of excuses or complaining, I will think about Deb.
In my 30 years of life, I can categorically say that;
Nothing works if you don't put in the work!
No prayer, prophecy, seed sowing, good looks, inheritance, qualification, wishes, incantation, help, connection, can take the place of work.
Your faith without work is useless!
Work is the vehicle that drives every faith, idea, believe into actualization.
People succeed not because they are Christians or Muslims or Hindus, but because, they put in the work!
What do you desire?
If you don't work for it, you're working against it.
If you don't go for it, you're going against it.
A conscious effort in the direction of your dream, makes it possible!
The same way your books, lecturers and school building, did not come to meet you in your house, to teach you, so you can acquire a degree, that is the same way every other thing you desire, will be out of reach, if you don't go for it.
You can watch TV all day and follow your favorite celebrity on social media all year, but remember, those you're watching, have put in their best into what you're watching.
You, where is your best?
Turn the table around, say to yourself, I will be watched!
You can decide to watch others work their dreams to life, or you can decide to work yours too.
You can decide to sit back, envy or hate those who consistently put in the work to become, or you can let them inspire you to become.
You can decide to wish all you can, that others fail, but read this;
Its hard to beat a person who devotes their life to consistence practise, rehearsal and never ending improvement. - Joe Duncan
Be the devotee, don't be the ill wisher!
Remember, if you're not contributing to humanity in anyway, regardless of how small, you don't deserve to be here!
The year is still early. Before you tag it a "not so productive year," put in the work now!
NEW BLOG POST | Glowing Skin⠀
Co-founder Emma has just posted to our blog about her top tips for achieving a healthy, glowing complexion...⠀
"When it comes to summer, there is no denying it. Skin is in. And this trend will be carrying us through 2018. It is all about supple, fresh and glowing skin. Think almost bare “no trick, no contours”. Right up our alley here at conscious.kin!"⠀
And one of the products we love for achieving that radiant look is @muktiorganics 2-in-1 Resurfacing Exfoliant. ⠀
It is a gentle, deep cleansing exfoliant that removes dead skin cells encouraging collagen production and allowing new cells to surface and renew the complexion - improving skin texture for even and younger looking complexion!⠀
We have the full range of Mukti products at our new @jamesstbne showroom - where we're open 7 days a week! ⠀
I just love my #dmvttcsisters! The support we give to each other is remarkable. Thank you for everything. Alayo will always be remembered in our hearts and in Chippewa National Forest, as 15 trees have been planted in his honor. Thank you so much @jfullofbabywishes, @lepetitcrabeblog, @finallygotmybfp, @whenthisbergmeetsworld, @mybbydreams, and Theresa (someone pls tag her, I can't find her). My husband and I cried when we opened the card. What a way to honor our little boy. We appreciate the gift certificate to Home Bristo, looking forward to trying it out. Another #dmvttcsister, @once_upon_an_angelbaby, sent me this sweet angel figurine with a beautiful message, "When God Calls Little Children." It was a peaceful reminder that Alayo is somewhere healed from all diseases and suffering. Thank you to all my #ttcsisters that I have met I this amazing #ttccommunity. The relationships built in this community help ease the pain I have experienced throughout this journey of becoming a mother. #wesupporteachother#WeAreInThisTogether
